French training to 24 Nepali soldiers

The Nepal Army with support of the French Embassy in Kathmandu and Alliance Français (French Center) has provided a two-and-half month long French language training to 24 soldiers.

A press statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations of Nepal Army said, Brigadier General Ananta Bahadur Thebe, who is also the chief of the DPR of NA summed up the training amidst a function at Tribhuvan Army Officers Club in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Director of the French Center, Mathilde Vanmansart, joint director Prabin Rana and trainer Juan-Sebastien Desnanot were also present on the occasion.

The DPR statement further added the training was done to make the soldiers familiar with the language spoken by troops from other countries in UN missions and local people.

Majority of the troops in UN mission represent former French Colonies and speak French as their first language
