Court issues summons to FNCCI president on 'contempt of court' case
Acting on a ‘contempt of court’ writ petition, the Patan Appellate Court, Lalitpur, on Thursday issued summons to president of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce (FNCCI), Chandi Raj Dhakal, to furnish clarification over the defiance of its order against the nationwide general strike called by the Federation on Tuesday
A joint bench of judges Keshab Prasad Mainali and Hari Bahadur Basnet issued the summons to the FNCCI chief asking him to appear before the bench to record his statement within three days.
Saying that the FNCCI violated court order, on Monday, against the planned bandh, advocates Tikaram Bhattrai, Jyoti Baniya and Ram Chandra Simkhada had filed a contempt of court case against the FNCCI on behalf of Consumer Rights Protection Forum on Wednesday.
The petitioners also demanded that the organisers of bandh be ordered to pay compensation to anybody coming up with a claim of damage or properties during the daylong bandh.
Claiming that it didn’t receive information about the court order, the FNCCI, which is the umbrella organisation of the businessmen in the country, had organised nationwide bandh to protest the growing insecurity to business entrepreneurs. nepalnews.com mk Oct 19 06
