Maoists have imposed two hours of traffic jam from 8 to 10 am this morning protesting 'police atrocities.'

On Tuesday evening, policemen and the Maoists had engaged in minor scuffle in Koteshwore after the Maoists "arrested" an Armed Police Force (APF) personnel.

The Maoists had "arrested" Tek Bahadur Tamang from Jorpati area and took him away to Jadibuti area in Koteshwore.

Following the Maoist move, policemen and APF personnel went to Koteshwore and demanded that the Maoists release their colleague. When the Maoists refused to do so, the policemen forcefully took him away to Hanumandhoka station. They resorted to light lathicharge injuring a few persons, according to reports.

The Maoists have claimed that they "arrested" Tamang after receiving complaints about his 'criminal activities' from local residents of Jorpati area.

In recent months, the Maoists have themselves 'donned' police role and have claimed that they are working to make the valley safe. nepalnews.com sd Oct 25 06
