Govt. will feed Maoist armies in cantonments: Minister Chaudhari

Minister for Land Reforms and Management, Prabhu Narayan Chaudhari

One of the senior ministers of the cabinet has said that the government and Maoists had reached into agreement that the government will feed the Maoist armies in the camps.

Speaking at the programme organized by Bara Industry and Commerce Association, Minister for Land Reforms and Management, Prabhu Narayan Chaudhari said that the government will feed the Maoist armies after they start living in cantonments.

Talking about the summit level talks between the ruling seven party alliance and Maoists after they failed to find consensus in the issues of fate of monarchy and Maoist arms management, Minister Chaudhari said that the talks was postponed for some times to do more homework by both the sides.

He also said that the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists handed over responsibility of finding consensus in the issue of arms management and fate of monarchy to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist chairman Prachanda.

Stating that the King will get the chance of becoming active if referendum was held to decide his fate, Minister Chaudhari said that the fate of monarchy should be decided through the election of the constituent assembly.

There is dispute among ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists for deciding the fate of monarchy. Nepali Congress has been saying that the fate of monarchy should be decided through election of the constituent assembly, while, second largest party in the seven party alliance CPN-UML has been saying that the fate of monarchy should be decided through referendum. On the other hand, Maoists are demanding not to give any space to the King in the interim constitution. nepalnews.com pb Oct 26 06
