ANHS elects new executive committee
The recently held annual council and general meeting of the Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies (ANHS) formed a new executive committee for 2006-2009, headed by Professor Mahendra Lawoti (Western Michigan University).
A press release issued by the ANHS said, Professor Jim Fisher (Carleton College) is the secretary while Professor Arjun Guneratne (Macalester College) is the Treasurer of the newly elected committee.
“Established in 1971, the association brings together scholars and others interested in Nepal, Tibet, the Himalayan areas of North India, Bhutan, North Pakistan and adjacent mountainous areas,” the statement further said.
Other members of the committee are Tom Robertson (Wooster Polytechnic Institute), Professor Anne Rademacher (New York University), Professor Susan Hangen (Ramapo College), Professor Mark Liechty (University of Illinois at Chicago), Professor Jim Blumenthal (Oregon State University), Professor John Metz (Northern Kentucky University), and Professor Barbara Brower (Portland State University), as ex-officio member.
