Leaders stress unity between SPA and Maoists for peace

Speaker Subash Nemwang has said the seven party alliance and the Maoists must work together not only for election to the constituent assembly but also for complete restructuring the state mechanism and raising the economic status of the general Nepalese.

Speaking at an interaction programme organized jointly by by Reading Nepali Samaj and Nepali Alliance for Democratic Republic in Reading Town of the UK, he said the partnership between SPA and Maoists should remain for years.

He further said the ongoing peace process would give an outlet to the country and Nepal will get its new structure through election to the constituent assembly.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Om Gurung, general secretary of the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities highlighted the need for federal and inclusive state mechanism by restructuring the state structure for republican set up.

Leader of People's Front Nepal Sashi Shrestha stressed that the equal participation of women in every state mechanism is a most for economic development and social change of the country.

Tek Bahadur Chokhyal of the Nepali Congress (Democratic) said monarchy is the main burden of Nepalese people and hence only the end of the monarchy can pave way for overall development.

Ananda Prasad Dhungana of the Nepali Congress said that all Nepalese must unite until the establishment of complete and inclusive democracy in the country.

UML leader Mahendra Pandey said without peace the country would not make progress in economic development and peace cannot be restored without political settlement. He further said that end of monarchy is a must to restore sustainable peace in Nepal.

Maoist spokesperson and coordinator of the Maoist talk's team, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, expressed his party's commitment to the ongoing peace process to its meaningful conclusion.

He further said the feudal system in any form is not acceptable to the Maoists. He said monarchy pushes country to disaster and end of feudalism would improve the condition of Nepalese people and the indigenous nationalities. nepalnews.com ia Oct 27 06
