Gurung says monarchy is hindrance to peace process
Member of the Maoist talks team Dev Gurung has accused the monarchy of being the obstacle to the progress of the Nepalese society.
Speaking at a programme in the capital on Friday, Maoist leader Gurung claimed that royalists and foreign powers are active in the country to disrupt the peace process and strengthen monarchy.
He also expressed hope that the upcoming summit talks would make a general consensus over all disagreements among the political parties.
Speaking at the same program, Dr Narayan Khadka of the Nepali Congress Democratic said the peace process has been delayed due to influences from the palace. He further said if the parties continue to work with pressure from the palace, there is no possibility of making the peace talks successful.
He urged the Maoists to end the politics of arms and win the hearts of people through political principles.
UML standing committee member Bam Dev Gautam, another speaker at the program, said the increasing rift between the seven parties and the Maoists would give opportunity to the regressive forces to revive their powers and take control. nepalnews.com ia Oct 27 06
