Oli continues meetings with foreign leaders in NY

The Nepali delegation to the 61st session of the Untied Nations General Assembly led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs KP Sharma Oli held bilateral consultations with representatives of various countries in the sidelines of the general assembly in New York.

The Nepali delegation led by DPM Oli held a bilateral meeting with Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabha Al-Salem Al-Sabha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait in New York, Saturday.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, including the condition of Nepali migrant workers in Kuwait were discussed, reports the National News Agency.

Likewise, DPM Oli met Richard Boucher, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia in New York.

In the meeting, the leaders discussed matters of bilateral relations and mutual interest. Boucher enquired about the ongoing peace process in Nepal and expressed the support of the United States for a democratic, peaceful, stable and prosperous Nepal.

Oli also met with Paula Dobriansky, Under-Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs in the US Department of State.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest were discussed including humanitarian assistance to Bhutanese refugees who have been residing in Nepal.

Acting Foreign Secretary Bhagirath Basnet, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations Madhu Raman Acharya and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Mission of Nepal were also present in the above meetings.

Acting Foreign Secretary Bhagirath Basnet also met with Radhika Kumaraswami, Under-Secretary-General and Special Representative of Secretary-General of the United Nations on Children and Armed Conflict at the UN Headquarters in New York. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest were discussed.
