Dead bodies of chopper crash victims brought to the capital

Dead bodies of all 24 victims of the deadly chopper crash in Taplejung on Saturday were brought to the capital, Kathmandu, by army helicopters Wednesday afternoon.

The dead bodies have been kept at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, and will be handed over to the families of the victims from there, after identification. The dead bodies were brought to Kathmandu from Suketar of Taplejung.

Most of the bodies have been damaged beyond recognition, according to search team members.

Professional mountaineers had assisted in the search of the dead in Ghyabla hill where the Sri Airlines chopper had crashed.

Minister of State for Forest and Soil Conservation, Gopal Rai, senior officials of the ministry, the WWF Nepal and Kathmandu-based foreign missions lost their lives in one of the deadliest crashes in Nepal’s aviation history.
