The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) interrogated former army chief Pyar Jung Thapa in connection with accusations made by Rayamajhi Commission report that he was involved in misuse of state fund during the repression of People's Movement II last April.

Thapa was interrogated for four hours by investigation officers of the CIAA at the Commission office in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Thapa had been summoned by the CIAA to answer to the accusations made by the Rayamajhi Commission report – which was formed to investigate and recommend action against those guilty of repression of the people's movement. He faces accusations that he misused over Rs 20 million.

The government had handed over the report to the CIAA to initiate action based on its recommendations.

After his interrogation, Thapa told reporters that he has done nothing wrong. He said he had used money as per the regulations.

Meanwhile, the CIAA has said that it let off Thapa after interrogations saying that he could be summoned again if the commission sees the need. nepalnews.com sd Apr 03 07
