Chief inspects road construction; 4 soldiers face action

Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Rookmangud Katawal inspected the construction work of Surkhet-Jumla road and the belly bridge installed at Serighat of Kalikot district.

A press release issued by the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) of Nepali Army (NA) said, COAS Katawal also interacted with the locals and expressed commitment on behalf of NA to construct motorable road up to Jumla.

Addressing the NA personnel involved in the road construction work, COAS Katawal said Nepali Army has always been assuming the responsibility given by the state and directed the personnel to remain determined to carry out the duties given by the state under any situation inside or outside the country.

Of the 232 kilometers of road joining Surkhet to Jumla, NA has been constructing 88 kilometers from Sai of Dailekh to Chedena of Kalikot since 2002.

The Nepal Army is presently working on 11 different road projects.

In another incident, the NA has also informed that four soldiers at Besi Sahar barracks in Lamjung district are facing action for flouting military norms.

In a separate statement issued by the DPR, it has said that the soldiers had consumed alcohol and quarreled with local residents on Monday after getting out of the barrack without permission. It said thorough probe is on to find out more about the incident. nepalnews.com pb Apr 05 07
