LP gas dealers, distributors submit memo to PM

LP gas dealers and distributors today submitted memorandum to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, seeking his intervention to resolve the problems in the supply of LP gas soon.

Gas dealers, distributors and retailers have formed a joint struggle committee with representatives from LP Gas Distributor Association, LP Gas Dealers Association, LP Gas Retailers Association and Nepal Gas Dealer Association.

The committee has been demanding smooth supply of LP Gas.

"We have submitted a memorandum to the PM and apprised him about the current situation of cooking gas supply in the valley," committee’s spokesperson Bibendra Pradhananga told reporters.

The crisis of LP Gas is worsening in the capital as the LPG bottling companies are on strike for the last two weeks brining the import of the cooking gas to complete halt. They have been demanding increase of current quota to up to 10,000 metric tonnes per month and compensation for losses in transportation.

The normal daily supply of bottled LPG in the valley stands at 10,000 cylinders.

Various round of talks between the government and the LP Gas companies have ended inconclusively. nepalnews.com pb Apr 08 07
