Nepal event at St. Cloud State University

Nepali Students Association (NSA) of St. Cloud State University, Minnesota, USA, organised ‘Nepal night’ on April 07 with various activities. The event is organised annually.

This year's event was entitled 'Adhyaya: A Chapter, a New Beginning, Yet Another Epic'. "Acknowledging the changes and new chapter in Nepal's history, we brought Adhyaya to the St. Cloud community," president of the NSA Rapan Upreti told Nepalnews via email.

He said the main message of the program was to express hope and pray that in the new circumstance, Nepal returned to peace and made forward leaps.

The event was attended by over 800 people including the university president, deans of colleges of the university, director of international studies, many people of the community and students from Moorhead, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Wisconsin.

Upreti claimed the event was the biggest ever held by Nepalis in the area. University president and director of international studies addressed the function. A Nepali girl adopted by American from Bal Mandir talked about the situation of children who have been displaced by the conflict in Nepal.

NSA also presented an animated video on the history of Nepal, from the Kirats to the present day followed by a ‘diyo dance’ on 'Baneko cha pahara le yo chati mero', a patriotic number composed and sung by late music maestro Gopal Yonjan.

A separate presentation on Karnali region was made with the message that Karnali deserves better days ahead. nepalnews.com ia Apr 09 07
