ADB's deputy director in Kathmandu to discuss ADB strategies

Deputy Director General of South Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Sultan Hafeez Rahman arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday to participate in the Country Programming Mission (CPM) that started today.

As part of its annual exercise, ADB is making field mission until April 29 to review recent political, economic and social developments and determine their implications for ADB operations, discuss government's approach to reconstruction and rehabilitation, discuss government priorities for the next 3 years and discuss important sectoral and portfolio performance issues with the government.

An ADB statement said he would hold consultation with development partners on their operational approach and identify co-financing opportunities and meet nongovernmental organisations and civil society concerning ADB operations.

Rahman would also discuss issues related to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) with the government officials during his stay in Nepal.
