Four pro-monarchy parties registered with EC
Four pro-King parties filed application at the Election Commission (EC) for party registration on Friday.
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Nepal) led by Rabindra Nath Sharma, Badri Mandal-led Nepal Sadbhwana Party (NSP), Samajbadi Party led by former royalist minister Salim Miyan Ansari and Janamukti Party led by MS Thapa filed separate applications along with 10 thousand signatures required for registration of new political party.
RPP (Nepal) chairman Sharma and Home Minister of erstwhile royal cabinet Kamal Thapa went to the EC to register party. They were accompanied by dozens of party supporters who chanted slogans in favour of ‘constitutional monarchy’.
Sharma’s party, which advocates constitutional monarchy, had come under attack several times by the activists of the eight parties while organising its programmes in different districts.
NSP chairman Mandal and Samajbadi Party’s Ansari were also present at the EC to register their parties. Both were ministers in the King’s cabinet and have been charged with brutal suppression of last year’s mass uprising. nepalnews.com mk Apr 20 07
