14th BIMSTEC meeting in Thimpu

The meeting of the BIMSTEC free trade area will be held in Thimpu of Bhutan to resolve the issues pertaining to free trade in the region.

According to Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, the date of 7-8 May has been proposed for the 14th meeting, but the date is yet to be finalised.

Though earlier the meeting was scheduled to take place in New Delhi of India on January, it was postponed as Nepal and the Bangladesh said that they will not attend the meeting.

The meeting will discuss the contentious issues like rule of origin, market protection among others for the implementation of free trade agreement within the member countries of BIMSTEC.

Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri-Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar are the members of the BIMSTEC. nepalnews.com pb Apr 21 07
