NRNA appeals to Nepali Diaspora for help to flood victims
Joining hands to support the flood victims in Nepal, the Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has appealed the Nepali Diaspora to donate for creating a relief fund to support flood victims.
In a statement on Thursday, NRNA International Coordination Committee (ICC) president Dr Upendra Mahato has appealed to all NRNA members 'to mobilise NRN communities all over the world to raise fund for the needy Nepali brothers and sisters affected by the floods.'
The collected fund will be distributed through the association's secretariat in Kathmandu.
"It is not only the immediate relief that matters but the support extended in rehabilitation of affected people is as important," Dr Mahato said.
A large number of organisations in the country, including the political parties, have begun donation campaigns raising funds and other necessary goods to support the people in the areas inundated by the flood due to the incessant rain for the last two weeks. The government has also announced an immediate relief package. nepalnews.com ia Aug 03 07
