Monsoon wrecks havoc across South Asia; human toll over 1000
Countries of South Asia have been ravaged by floods during this year’s monsoon season.
The heavy precipitation resulted in flash floods, inundation of villages and devastation in human lives, properties as well as agriculture.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal have been severely affected by the floods. Altogether over 1000 persons have already died in the region, according to agency reports.
In India alone 1028 persons have dies while 1.4 million people have been affected by the floods. In Pakistan, 230 persons have died and 191 have died in Bangladesh due to floods.
The toll in Nepal has reached 87 with around 200,000 people displaced due to inundation. nepalnews.com sd Aug 04 07
