No more talks with govt: Chure-Bhawar Samaj
The Chure-Bhawar Ekta Samaj on Monday announced that it would not sit for dialogue with the government anymore.
Chairman of the Samaj, Keshab Prasad Mainali, said a meeting of the Samaj in Kathmandu today decided to discontinue the talks with government citing the latter’s failure to ensure security in Chure-Bhawar region.
The Samaj that has held several rounds of negotiation with the government’s talk team over the weeks has been blaming the government of failing to provide security to hill-origin people in Chure-Bhawar belt even after they have come under increased attacks by the armed Terai groups. It has also been demanding ‘autonomy’ to Chure-Bhawar region.
The group had carried out relentless protests in Chure-Bhawar region a couple of months ago, bringing businesses and transport to a halt.
At a meeting on July 26 with the government’s talk team Chure-Bhawar leaders had agreed to resume talks by mid-August. nepalnews.com mk Aug 06 07
