Bihar CM urges Indian PM to resolve flood issues with Nepal

Chief Minister of Bihar state of India has said he has urged Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to hold talks with Nepal leadership to reach a lasting solution to floods.

Following a tour to the flood-affected regions of Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said in Patna that Bihar has suffered huge loss from floods. He said floods are caused frequently by the rivers that originate from Himalayas in Nepal.

Kumar said he has urged PM Singh to take initiative to hold talks with Nepal government to end this problem, which displaces hundreds of thousands of people every year.

Earlier, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh state of India, Mayawati had also blamed that floods were caused in her state since Nepal has not constructed dams in its territory.

This year, floods have wrecked havoc not only in Nepal but also in adjoining Indian states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. nepalnews.com sd Aug 07 07
