Gen secy Nepal says Maoists fear polls
Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the Maoists had tabled the proposal of republic through the interim parliament itself because it "fears that the people might not favour it during the constituent assembly election", reports Kantipur daily.
Speaking to reporters at the Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairahawa Monday, general secretary Nepal said no political party should do anything to disrupt the constituent assembly election.
"Left unity can be explored if the Maoists show willingness by improving their conduct," Nepal said.
