Plenum passes Prachanda's report

The fifth expanded meeting or plenum of the Maoist party has passed the political report by Prachanda, unanimously, with some amendments.

Earlier, Maoist chairman Prachanda defended his political report and replied to queries raised by party leaders regarding party's strategy and tactics, on Tuesday, at the party's fifth plenum.

In his report, Prachanda has proposed launching movement in case the Constituent Assembly (CA) election is not held on time.

His report has also put forth two preconditions for the CA election – immediate republic announcement by the parliament and adoption of fully Proportional Representation based election system.

According to Maoist deputy commander Barshaman Pun aka Ananta, the Maoists will enter into different alliance if its preconditions are not met. "We will go to the streets for agitation by forging republican alliance," he said.

The plenum is expected to conclude on Wednesday. It had started last Friday.

Meanwhile, the Maoists have publicised the property details of their central committee members.

According to report by Nepal FM, the 34 central committee members have stated that they collectively own Rs 36.3 million worth properties. According to the report, Ram Karki has the highest amount of properties at Rs 3.8 million followed by Lekhraj Bhatta, and Ananta. Likewise, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has recorded that he owns Rs 300,000 worth properties while his wife Minister Hishila Yami has Rs one million. Information Minister Krishna Mahara is reported to own Rs 300,000 while Dinanath Sharma owns Rs 475,000.
