NSP (A) dispute echoes in parliament
The internal dispute in the Nepal Sabhawana Party (Anandi Devi) has spilled over into the parliament.
Speaking during Wednesday's sitting of the parliament, some lawmakers sought clarification from Rajendra Mahato, the NSP (A) minister who has been recalled from the cabinet, over his claim that two NSP (A) MPs have abducted party chairperson Anandi Devi Singh.
Minister Mahato accused NSP (A) MPs Bharat Bimal Yadav and Hridayesh Tripathi of abducting Singh on Tuesday.
Jana Morcha leader Lila Mani Pokhrel asked the government to arrest the MPs if they were actually involved in abducting their party leader. MPs Birod Khatiwada, Romi Gauchan Thakali and Homnath Dahal demanded clarification from home ministry regarding their accusations and status of Singh.
Tripathi on his part said the Prime Minister should immediately sack Mahato for his irresponsible statement.
Answering the questions raised by MPs, Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula clarified that Singh has not been abducted and is in constant contact with the government. He said Mahato's statement was his personal charge against his party leaders.
The dispute in the NSP has deepened after party Anandi Devi Singh met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and asked him to sack Mahato from the coalition government. nepalnews.com ia Aug 08 07
