Australia provides Rs 33.6 million for flood victims
Australia has offered A$600,000 (approximately Rs 33.6 million) as immediate assistance for victims of the recent flooding and landslides in Nepal.
A press release issued Thursday by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Alexander Downer announced that A$500,000 would be provided through the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for food rations and A$100,000.00 would be provided through the Nepal Red Cross Society for relief operations.
This assistance is part of the broader assistance Australia has provided to South Asia (Pakistan and Bangladesh) in response to the devastating floods and landslides throughout the region, a press release issued by the Australian Embassy said Friday.
