UML will be largest party after CA polls, claims Nepal
CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has claimed that his party will emerge as the No. 1 political party after constituent assembly election, leaving a divided Congress party and the aggressive Maoists red-faced.
Addressing a meeting of the UML youth wing, the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), in Bhaktapur on Friday, Nepal said even some Nepali Congress leaders had ‘congratulated’ him for the UML’s likely emergence as the largest party as chances of unification between the NC and the NC-Democratic are none.
The UML is currently the second largest party in the interim parliament and the eight-party government. The NC and the CPN (Maoist) are the largest and third largest parties respectively.
Speaking further at the ANNFSU programme, Nepal said the CA polls must be held on November 22. “We have no alternative than to go for the polls on the stipulated date,” he said, directing party workers to get on to election campaign. nepalnews.com mk Aug 10 07
