Yadav's resignation accepted
After he refused to comply with the request of Maoist leadership to stay put, Forest Minister Matrika Yadav's resignation was finally accepted by Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Friday.
Koirala accepted the resignation, which was tendered a week ago by Yadav, with the consent of Maoist leadership.
According to Information and Communication Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara, another Maoist Minister Dev Gurung, who currently holds the portfolio of Local Development, will take over the reins of Forest and Soil Conservation Ministry for the time being.
Yadav, who had become controversial over his rash remarks and verbal altercation with the Prime Minister himself, had resigned citing reasons such as non-cooperation from Home Ministry and Finance Ministry to control sandalwood smuggling, non cooperation from his own Ministry staffs, among others. He refused to withdraw his resignation even though Maoist chairman Prachanda requested him to do so. nepalnews.com sd Aug 10 07
