CEC updates PM on polls preparations
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala met with Chief Election Commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel Saturday morning and got updates on the preparations for constituent assembly polls.
During the meeting at the PM's residence in Baluwatar, CEC Pokhrel advised Koirala to form eight-party mechanisms at the district and village levels to launch election campaigns and create awareness.
The PM, in response, assured that the government was committed to hold the polls on the stipulated date and provide all necessary support required by the EC.
CEC Pokharel expressed concern over the failure on part of the political parties to create an election environment at the village level, a need he has been pointing out since months.
Pokhrel also expressed dissatisfaction that government agencies had not been as active they should have been for the polls. nepalnews.com ia Aug 11 07
