EC officials meet with the Prime Minister
The senior officials of the Election Commission (EC) have met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Sunday morning.
The chief commissioner and commissioners met with the PM to discuss about the poll preparations and the need to create favourable atmosphere.
As only 100 days remain for the holding of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election on November 22, the EC officials have been urging the government and the political parties to create poll atmosphere in the districts and villages. They have urged parties to create joint mechanisms up to village level.
"We briefed the PM about EC's preparations and he assured us with all kinds of support," said Nilkantha Upreti, an election commissioner.
Upreti added that the EC was well within the timeline in terms of administrative and technical preparations to hold the elections on schedule. He also regretted the continuation of remarks by some leaders expressing doubt about the polls.
