ICDR Condemns murder of Dalit activist

International Commission for Dalit Rights (ICDR) has condemned the murder of Purna Bahadur Sunar, district president of Dalit NGO Federation (DNF) Kapilvastu, by unidentified group on Thursday.

In a statement on Sunday ICDR’s international secretariat based in London urged Nepal government to initiate immediate investigation and provide compensation to the Sunar’s family. “The murder of Sunar is an example of growing arbitrariness against Dalit Rights movement,” ICDR president DB Bishwakarma said.

Sunar was shot dead by unidentified group in Kapilvastu Thursday evening when he was on the way home.
