CA polls parties' main 'political agenda': CEC Pokhrel
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Bhoj Raj Pokhrel, who had repeatedly called on the parties to pick up with their electioneering for the past few weeks, said he hopes the parties would go for the polls campaign since it is the main political agenda of the parties.
In a press conference organised at the Election Commission (EC) on Monday, ahead of the commission officials being dispatched to regional levels to start training on voters educators, Pokhrel said delay on the side of the parties to reach the people would eventually affect them in the polls.
He also expressed satisfaction that the security situation in the country has been improving but cautioned for continued efforts by the government towards this.
Pokhrel said the EC is committed to hold the polls in free and fair environment on the specific date, and has already completed its technical works and that the materials necessary for the polls are being transported to districts and regions. He further said most legal instruments are ready and voters' education process is going well with support from national and international support groups.
Pokhrel stated the commission expects that no one would work towards creating unfavourable conditions for the polls and that the sole agenda for the state for this year would be hold the election on the specified date. nepalnews.com ia Aug 13 07
