More support for flood victims
Support for flood victims continues to come from various national and international organisations and diplomatic missions. Government agencies and Nepal Red Cross volunteers have been deployed to flood affected areas to provide relief support to the victims.
In a statement, Trekking Agent Association of Nepal (TAAN) said it has provided financial support of Rs 300,111 for the victims. A TAAN team led by its president Narendra BC handed over the cash to Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prithvi Subba Gurung to be deposited to Prime Minister Relief Fund.
Similarly, Republic of Korea provided Rs 3.24 million to the government of Nepal as part of the humanitarian assistance to flood victims, an embassy statement said. The sum was handed over to Foreign Minister Sahana Pradhan by Korean ambassador to Nepal Nam Sang-jung.
The People's Republic of China also has provided assistance of Rs 1.72 million for the flood victims through Nepal Red Cross. The Tibet Autonomous government of China also provided a relief support of Rs 2.58 million to government.
Nepal Merchant Banking and Finance also contributed Rs 51,000 cash and clothes for the flood victims. nepalnews.com ia Aug 14 07
