Scribes stage sit-in against Maoist intervention on press freedom
Journalists staged a sit-in protest in front of the Ministry of Information and Communication Tuesday to protest the continued disruption of the distribution of The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post dailies and shutdown of Radio HBC FM by pro-Maoist workers.
They also demanded the immediate reinstatement of 49 journalists sacked from the state-run Gorkhapatra corporation. The Maoist-led management of the corporation is alleged to have taken the decision to sack the journalists.
