SLC chance exams begin

This year's School Leaving Certificate (SLC) “chance” examination, which is conducted for students failing in two or less subjects in the regular SLC exams, started as scheduled from Wednesday.

Of the total 116,949 students who are expected to attend the supplementary examination, 74,873 students sat for English subject exams today. The remaining students are taking the examination of math, science and other subjects. According to the Office of the Controller of Examination, the first day of examinations was held in all the 237 exam centers without any disruption.

Meanwhile, around 128 students of five schools in Chure region were prevented from appearing in SLC chance examinations in Aurahiya of Morang district today.

The locals didn’t allow the students to take their exams in protest of the various demonstration programmes organised by Chure Bhawar Ekta Samaj-Nepal in the district, reports said.

District Education Officer Jiwas Mishra said that the English exams that the students missed today would be conducted after the examination of the remaining subjects are over. He said that a new center would be arranged for the students in the same district. nepalnews.com ag Aug 15 07
