Tatopani checkpoint reopens
Tatopani checkpoint, the main trade point between Nepal and China reopened from Thursday after negotiations between local administrations of three districts and protesting traders and transport workers.
Chief district officers and security chiefs of Kavre, Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha districts participated in talks with the representatives of traders and transport workers held in Dhulikhel, Kavre. The two sides had met Wednesday as well.
The protesters, who had been obstructing business at Tatopani checkpoint in Sindhupalchowk for the last five days, agreed to withdraw the strike after assurance of security to them.
The strike had caused losses worth tens of millions of rupees.
Tatopani, which borders Tibet's Khasa Bazaar, is one of the busiest checkpoints in Nepal. nepalnews.com mk Aug 16 07
