Refugee leader Basnet undergoing treatment in critical condition

Senior Bhutanese refugee leader R. B. Basnet has been undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital since Wednesday in a critical condition.

According to apfanews.com, Basnet, the president of Bhutan National Democratic Party (BNDP), has problem with urinary pipe since a few years. He also suffers from stomach problem.

Doctors at the hospital said the disease is incurable but can be controlled.

Request of Bhutanese human rights leader Tek Nath Rizal seeking support from ministry of health and environment for Basnet's treatment has not been responded.

Basnet is one of the top Bhutanese bureaucrats who established BNDP to fight for democracy and human rights in Bhutan. He has been the president of that party since the establishment.
