Congress unification process resumes
The unification process between Nepali Congress (NC) and Nepali Congress – Democratic (NC-D) that has not made any headway resumed from Friday.
The unification talks between the organizational congress (NC) and the Sher Bahadur Dueba led faction (NC-D) had reached a deadlock after NC vice-president Sushil Koirala expressed his dissatisfaction over the agreement reached between the task forces of the two parties ten days ago.
There was a three-hours-long ‘cordial’ discussion between the members of the two task forces on pertinent issues in order to build a consensus for party unification, a participant told Kantipur Daily.
“There were also discussions on issues that remained to be resolved between the two parties,” he told the daily. Prior to this, the two task forces had reached an agreement on unified congress leadership in 49 districts of the total 75 districts in Nepal in view of the forthcoming CA election. nepalnews.com ag Aug 18 07
