NRN UAE committee welcomes NRN bill; demands revision

Non Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Committee (NCC) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has welcomed the passing of NRN bill from the parliament recently but said the act has not adequately addressed the issued raised by the NRNA.

In a statement, NRN UAE president Chandra Prasad Sapkota said the long awaited NRN Act did not address the problems faced by over two-thirds of total Nepalis currently living in the Gulf countries.

However, Sapkota said the passing of the bill has paved the way for involvement of Nepali Diaspora for the development of the nation with legal registration of the organisation.

He proposed that the third international conference of the NRNs scheduled for October in Kathmandu must discuss the new act thoroughly and summit memorandum to the government for amendments in a number of provisions. nepalnews.com ia Aug 20 07
