Cabinet meeting cancelled
A meeting of the Council of Ministers that was to be held at the Prime Minister's Baluwatar residence has been cancelled.
The meeting, which was to appoint 21 secretaries in different ministries and government departments and discuss the appointment of ambassadors and senior officials at the National Human Rights Commission, was cancelled because of the general strike in the capital, it is learnt.
The cabinet meeting has been rescheduled for 3:00 pm Thursday.
In Tuesday's cabinet meeting, there was an understanding among the ministers to appoint 21 secretaries out of the 81 names suggested by an advisory panel. The same meeting had decided to publicise and implement the report of the Ojha Commission formed to probe the excesses of the disbanded Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC). nepalnews.com mk Aug 22 07
