NC activist shot dead

Unidentified assailants shot dead Nepali Congress (NC) activist Phulchan Saha Kanu in Ramnagari VDC in Birgunj on Friday.

According to reports, Kanu, 38, a resident of Mahuwan VDC of the district was returning home with two of his friends on a motorcycle when two unidentified persons on another motorcycle forced them to stop and took Kanu away with them at gun point.

The police later found his dead body at some distance from where he was abducted. Police said the assailants had shot him on both his eyes.

Some reports have said he was killed by cadres of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM-Jwala Singh). nepalnews.com ag Aug 25 07
