Agitating NWSC employees submit memo to PM
The agitating employees of Nepal Drinking Water Supply Corporation (NWSC) Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala demanding that the government fulfill their demands, which include extension of their service period.
Saying that the government has failed to implement the past agreements with them, NWSC employees have threatened that to stage fast-unto-death in the corporation’s premises until the government fulfills all their demands.
Apart from extension of service period, other demands of the NWSC employees, who have been agitating for quite some time, include giving permanent status to more than 300 temporary employees, reinstatement of all employees who have been sacked, free medical treatment to those employees who have been injured during their protest programmes and removing the police from the premises of the corporation.
Receiving the memorandum, PM Koirala assured the agitating employees that he would personally look into the matter and talk with the concerned ministry to solve the problem. nepalnews.com ag Aug 28 07
