FNJ concerned over sacking of HBC FM journo
The Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ) has expressed serious concern over the decision of HBC FM management to sack all journalists and employees working for it.
Asking the management to abide by the Working Journalist Act (WJA), FNJ has warned the management to be responsible for all consequences of its decisions.
After ending his 15-day fast-unto-death aimed at resuming the radio broadcast and "press freedom" on Sunday, Birendra Dahal, the chief advisor of HBC FM issued a notice Wednesday announcing that all journalists and employees working for the radio station were dismissed from their duty.
In the notice signed by Dahal, who staged the hunger strike for the resumption of radio transmission, it has been stated that the identity cards of all employees have been nullified from Wednseday and that the management would begin fresh recruitment in a few days time.
Issuing a statement, HBC Joint Struggle Committee (HBCJSC), an organisation of the radio employees, denounced the decision of the FM management in sacking all employees at the FM station and called for sincere implementation of WJA.
HBC FM radio broadcast had remained disrupted from August 7 following a dispute between employees and the Management. nepalnews.com ag Aug 30 07
