Nepse declines by 0.87 points
The index of Nepal stock exchange (Nepse), declined slightly by 0.87 points over the week reaching its index to 519.05 points from 519.92 points.
Shares worth Rs 149.8 million were traded over the week through 2,515 transactions, as compared to share transaction of Rs 99.7 million rupees of the previous week.
The index of commercial banks, insurance and hydropower companies recorded loss over the week. The commercial banks group experienced a loss of 6.05 points, with its index falling to 570.80 points from 576.85 points. Likewise, the insurance group posted a loss of 8.20 points. Its index opened at 540.40 points and closed at 532.20 points. The index of the others group inched down by 5.82 points to 649.61 points from 655.43 points.
Hotels continued to see a rise in share prices over the week. The hotels group saw an increase of 4.02 points in its index. The finance group saw an impressive growth of 12.40 points, reaching its index to 407.60 points, up from 395.20 points. The index of the development banks group rose by 2.99 points to 531.85 points.
The indices of trading and manufacturing remained static at 148.51 points and 322.36 points respectively.
The commercial banks group made up around 67.90 percent of the total turnover. Finance group accounted for 14.95 percent while the development banks group had 9.82 percent. Likewise, the others group captured 5.43 percent. nepalnews.com pb Feb 04 07
