Over 15 students injured in a clash at public hearing
Over 15 students were injured in a clash among student unions at a public hearing programme on Pashimanchal Engineering Campus at Lamachaur in Pokhara on Thursday.
The programme was organised by the campus administration to discuss corruption in construction work in the women's hostel in the campus.
The clash started between the students after All Nepal National Free Student Union (ANNFSU), ANNFSU (United) and All Nepal National Independent Student Union (Revolutionary) intervened in the programme.
The clash occurred between three student organisations - ANNISU-R, ANNFSU and ANNFSU (Unified) and Nepal Student Union following the intervention of three student unions.
District President of NSU, Santosh Pahari, chairman of the NSU engineering campus unit, Subarna Ghimire, Prithvi Narayan campus unit member Ram Prasad Adhikari, Subarna Chhetri and Santosh Poudel of NSU, Iman Raj Poudel of ANNFSU and Madan Ale of ANNISU (R) were injured. The condition of Adhikari and Chhetri is said to be in critical.
One student of ANNFSU Sudhir Poudel alleged that the campus chief had brought hooligans from outside and that they were the ones who attacked the NSU members. nepalnews.com pb Feb 09 07
