Supply system bouncing back as Terai regains order
The supply system, which was thoroughly derailed due to the prolonged unrest in eastern and central Terai, has bounced back as truck loads of essential items and fuel have now started moving towards the capital and other parts of the country from custom points where they had remained stranded.
According to reports, around 500 trucks carrying essential goods moved to the eastern regions from Biratnagar point on Friday.
Likewise, the Nepal Oil Corporation has said that around 200 tankers carrying petroleum products will reach Kathmandu this evening from Amlekhgunj near Birgunj. The corporation believes that fuel shortage will end from Saturday. Due to the unrest, the NOC had been struggling to bring in supplies to the capital valley. It did bring some fuel through alternative Bhairahawa route but was still unable to address the shortage.
Meanwhile, shops and transport system have opened and resumed in places like Biratnagar, Birgunj, Janakpur, Lahan, Gaur and so on from Friday after the agitating Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) announced withdrawal of bandhs and strikes for ten days. nepalnews.com sd Feb 09 07
