Nepse index up by 3.34 points; gold price rises
The index of Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) increased by 3.34 points over the week due to increase in share prices of commercial bank groups.
According to Nepal Stock Exchange, the Nepse index rose to 523.11 points on Thursday, the last day of trading under regular lot up from 519.77 points of Sunday.
A total of 297,013 shares worth 161.1 million were traded over the week as compared to 268,114 shares worth 149.8 million rupees of the previous week.
The index of commercial banks group rose by 2.10 points reaching its index to 576.65 points, up from 574.55 points., Likewise the indices of hotel group, finance group and other groups increased by 4.32, 22.88 and 10.51 points respectively reaching their indices to 200.52, 431.97 and 660.95 points up from 196.20, 409.09 and 650.44 points respectively. Similarly, the index of development banks group reached to 536.85 points up from 528.91 points.
The insurance group became the sole loser over the week posting 5.23 points loss, reaching its index to 527.13 points, down from 532.36 points.
However the indices of trading group and manufacturing groups remained static at 148.51 points and 322.43 points respectively.
The price of gold increased by Rs 140 per ten grams in the Nepali market over the week due to rise in the price of precious yellow metal in the International level.
According to Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers Association, the price of the precious yellow metal rose to Rs. 15,340 per ten grams up from 15,200.
The price of gold rose to US$ 659 per troy ounce up from US$ 656 of the previous week. nepalnews.com pb Feb 11 07
