Army Day observed

The Army Day 2063 BS (2007) was observed in a grand function at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel of the capital on Friday.

Breaking the tradition of previous years in which the King was the Chief Guest of the Army Day function, Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Rukmangad Katawal was the Chief Guest.

The King was not invited as the parliament reinstated following the success of the April movement deprived the King as the Supreme Commander in Chief of the Nepal Army.

CoAS Katawal presented insignias to two battalions of NA. CoAS Katawal also presented awards to winners of the various competitions organised to mark the day.

Taekwando, Mass PT, March Past, Vehicle Show, Dog Show, Free Fall Jump, Helicopter Flyby, Band Display and guest competitions were performed on the occasion.

Leaders of various political parties, chiefs of the constitutional bodies and other high-ranking officials were present on the occasion. nepalnews.com pb Feb 16 07
