Govt, KMC and Sisdole locals agree on waste disposal
After a weeklong obstruction by locals of Sisdole on disposal of garbage, the residents of Sisdole VDC in Nuwakot district, the govt and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) have reached an agreement to allow the disposal of garbage from today itself.
The Sidole residents, government and the KMC reached a six-point agreement.
Heaps of garbage has been piling across the city since a week due to the obstruction created by locals of Sisdole Okharpauwa Sanitary Landfill Site.
The villagers decided to allow the disposal of waste when the government agreed to recognise a committee they formed to manage the garbage disposal area. The Kathmandu Municipality office will work in coordination with the committee.
The government has expressed commitment to providing assistance for electrification of the VDC, appointment of teachers, technical assistance in agriculture and animal husbandry and establish a health post.
The government and the locals also agreed to allocate budget for construction of a road from Ratmate of Nuwakot to Gaji of Dhading district and initiate formulation of a Landfill Site Act. nepalnews.com ia Feb 16 07
