Nepse index increases by 2.67 points

The index of Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) increased by 2.67 points over the week thanks to unprecented growth in share prices of insurance companies.

According to Nepal Stock Exchange, the index rose to 529.97 points on Thursday, the last day of trading under regular lot up from 524.30 points on Sunday, the first day of share transaction.

A total of 308,438 unit shares worth 162.20 million rupees were traded over the week.

The index of Insurance group saw a whopping growth of 49.65 points reaching its index to 578.75 points up from 529.10 points.

Likewise the indices of finance group, others group and manufacturing groups rose by 10.51, 1.66 and 0.05 points respectively reaching their indices to 443.82, 662.61 and 322.48 up from 433.31, 662.61 and 322.48 point respectively.

The index of commercial banks group saw a loss of 1.18 points with its index down to 577.02 points from 578.20 points. The index of development banks group also dropped by 1.28 points.

However, the indices of trading group and hotel group remained static at 148.51 and 201.29 points respectively.

Of the total transactions, the commercial banks group accounted for 70.42 percent, while finance and development banks group accounted for 10.01 and 9.39 percent respectively.

Similarly, insurance group captured 4.68 percent market share and manufacturing group had 0.04 percent share in total share transaction. nepalnews.com pb Feb 18 07
