Eight party leaders meeting underway
The meeting of the top leaders of eight political parties is underway at
Baluwatar this morning to discuss amending interim constitution.
The meeting is taking place to finalise the issues related with the demands
of Madhesis and Janajatis and incorporating them along with the promises
made by the Prime Minister on his February 7 address in the interim
constitution through necessary amendment.
The meeting is discussing the details about finalising the amendment
proposal. After the eight party leaders finalise the issue, the cabinet will
approve it and present it to the interim parliament for formal amendment.
The cabinet could present the proposal at the parliament as early as today.
According to UML leader Jhal Nath Khanal, the parties will try and finalise
the amendment proposal today itself.
He said some issues like deciding the increment of electoral constituencies
based on population; inserting provision of electing/removing Prime Minister
by the two-third members of parliament; and inserting provision about
