His visit comes at a time when Ban Ki Moon is expected to submit a proposal to the Security Council on January 11 regarding the UN support to the peace process here.

Martin today met with deputy prime minister and foreign minister KP Oli at Shital Niwas. He later told reporters that he expects there will be strong support in the Security Council towards Nepal's peace process.

Oli also told reporters that there will be a proposal on Nepal at the SC on January 11. "We also understand that the proposal will be submitted to budgetary committee. After their approval, around 200 UN monitors could come to Nepal," Oli said.

Meanwhile, around 11 of the UN arms monitors have already arrived in Nepal and they are expected to initiate the process of monitoring of management of arms and armies beginning January 7. nepalnews.com sd Jan 03 07
